The
province of Leyte was recently hit by strong tropical cyclone Yolanda which
caused widespread destruction. It is the strongest tropical cyclone to make
landfall on record. Due to this recent turn of events, CKSC 82 Batch President
Kimball Teng has proposed that the budget of P50,000.00 we allotted for our
medical mission next year be donated to the Philippine Red Cross which is
active in raising funds, sending aid to the tyhoon victims and supporting
rescue efforts in the affected areas. Kimball got a majority vote from the CKSC
82 Officers and Class Representatives for the change of plan in the use of the
P50,000.00. Those who voted to donate the said amount were Amelia
Chuasang-Ting, Deborah Hong-Ching, Evelyn Ramos-Udquin, Evelyn Licup-Co,
Jocelin See-Lohongko, Nancy Aurelio, Joseph Tan, Pacifico Tee, Pelita Young,
Shirley Li-Pimentel, Violeta Chua-Reyes and Joseline Yap-Ngo.
By
Nov. 16, 2013, the check we issued to Philippine Red Cross for typhoon Yolanda
victims was pickup by a representative from the Philippine Red Cross Paranaque Chapter.
This was made possible by Peter Dee, our batch mate in section 8, who is active
in Philippine Red Cross Paranaque Chapter. Attached is the receipt we got from
Philippine Red Cross.
